Actress Emma Stone has been an inexhaustible topic of writing, discussion, debates, and inspiration for months. The reason for this is her latest role in the film by the Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, “Poor things”. In the film, already hailed as a classic, she portrayed a reanimated woman who, with the brain of a small child, learns how to function in the body of an adult woman.
On this journey, Emma, or rather Bella Baxter, discovers the world with all her senses and completely indulges in pleasures, just like a little child. In Paris she discovers sex, in Lisbon the pastel de nata, a famous Portuguese egg-based pastry eggs. Naturally, alcohol also came into play. One of the most memorable scenes is Bella, sitting in a lounger in front of a fairy-tale castle in London, toasting with a cocktail. Bella’s Martini. Given how faithfully Emma portrayed enjoyment in this drink, it’s no surprise that the cocktail has moved from the big screen to numerous bars around the world.
In cooperation with Ford’s gin, the New York cocktail bar Dante Beverly Hills, which opened its doors back in 1915. created the official recipe for the Poor Things cocktail for the Bellin Martini . he cocktail combines ingredients, each representing a different locale shown in director Lanthimos’ fantasy: London, Paris, Peru, Lisbon, and Alexandria.
Fill a shaker or mixing glass with ice. Add to it all five alcoholic drinks: gin, pisco, both vermouths and port. Stir until chilled, then pour into a martini or coupe glass. Spray the cocktail with rosewater (representing Alexandria) and add a drop each of olive oil and Blue Curacao.
Enjoy and toast with Emma, pardon Bella!
