Luca Guadagnino is an Italian director and producer of some of the most sensual, emotionally complex and visually enchanting films. His films are highly aestheticized works and are primarily a pleasure for all the senses. And now he brings a new film with a surprising choice of the main actress, which will surely leave an impression.

The director is known for often collaborating with charismatic and characterful, dramatic actresses and actors such as Tilda Swinton, Dakota Johnson and Timothée Chalamet. His trilogy “Desire” is forever written in the history of cinema, and the films “I Am Love”, “A Bigger Splash” and “Call Me by Your Name” did not leave anyone indifferent.

Luca Guadagnino’s beautiful, enchanting films

From beautiful scenes, enchanting landscapes and architecture, costumes and general stylistics, his films are “work of art” primarily due to style and aesthetics. He even made the horror “Suspiria” beautiful to watch.

It is precisely because of everything written that his latest film production – the sports drama “Challengers” with the globally popular Zendaya in the lead role – is especially intriguing. The film is already being hailed by critics as a masterpiece, featuring Zendaya in her most transformative role to date.

A new level of film aesthetics

The film “Challengers” is an intense journey through the dynamics of relationships, power and sports. Zendaya plays Tashi Duncan, a former tennis child prodigy whose power extends far beyond the tennis courts. The film brings a complicated story about love, control and competition. In addition to Zendaya, there is another star participating in the film, only a musical one. Trent Reznor signs the film’s music, which, I believe, greatly contributes to its aesthetic impression. The dynamism of the visual style of the film, with the stylized portrayal of the characters, defines a new level of film aesthetics.

The film is coming to theaters in April this year. Watch the trailer.
