The street style set are in an agreement: denim from head to toe is the uniform of the moment

by Tina Lončar

March 1, 2024

Enshrined in the golden pages of classics, denim has reigned supreme in our wardrobes for over half a century. Each season, it subtly changes its silhouette, the waistline on jeans rises or falls, we tweak its shades, remove or add details, but it’s always there, steadfast and present.

Outfits wrapped in jeans from head to toe sometimes, more as an exception than a rule, appeared as part of street fashion, and at the beginning of 2024 they dominated to such an extent that we can rightfully call them the “street uniform of the moment”. On the streets of fashion metropolises such as Copenhagen, Milan, London and Paris, it emerged in its most imaginative version so far, in casual, oversized silhouettes, styles that bring a touch of retro aesthetics, a pattern reminiscent of patchwork in several shades of blue, making two- or three-piece sets and even fashion accessories like boots. As it usually happens, the street fashion moodboard was also influenced by the runways which for spring/summer 2024 were flooded with denim from head to toe. The “jeans era” has been embraced by almost everyone serving their vision of this eternal material, and brands such as Area, Dion Lee, Jason Wu, LaQuan Smith and Alexander McQueen have at least some total look completely wrapped in jeans.

On the wave of popularity of sets were sets made of denim, from those whose cut “imitates” suits to increasingly casual versions composed of retro shorts and casual jeans jackets that still take us on a mental trip to the nineties. We’ve spotted a few trends, of course, but when it comes to the jeans “uniform”, it seems the only rule is to match the shades. Let the games begin!
