Ever since the runway shared the spotlight with the street, and street style photos became a regular part of fashion week coverage, the attention of the photographic lens has most often been captured by eccentric combinations.
A rhapsody of colors, textures and patterns, unusual outfits created from seemingly incompatible pieces, towers of different layers or fashion accessories that simply invite us to look at them with their striking aesthetics, have become a proven bait for photographers. Although over time we have called the phenomenon of attracting attention the peacock phenomenon, after the peacocks that flaunt and seduce with their impressive feathers, eccentricity at fashion weeks has not lost its charm. Street style photos have become a celebration of authenticity and originality, but also kind of like a diary of trends. Despite everything, stylistic minimalism has never completely sunk into oblivion. As much as it sometimes seems that it cannot “compete” with the attractiveness of colors, patterns and layers.
The street fashion photos taken in New York during the fashion week proved once again that the fashion clique cherishes a whole range of style expressions, from maximalism that “screams” eclectic, to minimalist and refined looks that give off a more calm impression. But this season, minimalism also comes with a shift, and fashionistas inclined to simplicity, clean silhouettes and a palette of non-colors brought a touch of the unexpected into it. The cuts were somehow bolder, the combinations of textures more daring, the styling more layered and with more details, and we witnessed an infusion of color here and there. Of course, in accessories like handbags. Obviously still attractive, the old money aesthetic enveloped it with a touch of glamor and “decorated” it with striking fashion accessories, such as leather gloves or massive gold earrings, but it did so in a new, more special way – with more freedom and with an invitation to play with minimalism. This spring, minimalism comes with a pinch of fun!
