Street Style

Everyone will be wearing tall boots this spring

Tina Lončar

February 29, 2024

Although high boots are a style symbol of winter and late autumn and we could start this street style guide with the words “Boots for spring? Groundbreaking!”, without thinking ironically, they can really be quite practical (and stylish!) even in the first weeks of spring.

After winter slowly begins to ease, and the mornings and evenings are still surprisingly chilly, it’s the perfect time to play around with outfits that include tall boots. The key word in that style game is “layered” and the rule of pairing longer pieces like coats and raincoats with shorter ones like miniskirts and shorts. To fill our moodboard before we officially enter the “transitional season”, we looked to the streets of Copenhagen and Milan for inspiration. Take notes!

HIGH BOOTS + MIDI SKIRT + LEATHER JACKET

The first in a series of inspiring combinations is the one that we could easily classify in the domain of classics because it faithfully follows the rule of proportions. High boots in combination with a skirt or a midi-cut dress do not interrupt the silhouette (as flat low shoes or ankle boots would do), and a short leather jacket gives the styling the final touch . A touch of difference is given by the combination of brown and sky blue, which is both unexpected and elegant.

HIGH BOOTS + MINI SKIRT + SHIRT + LONG COAT

A mini skirt paired with high boots is a tried and tested outfit, and it will look especially interesting if it is rounded off with a complete contrast – a long coat, a relaxed white shirt and some elements that we have “borrowed” from the men’s wardrobe, such as a tie.

HIGH BOOTS + SUPER SHORTS + NYLONS

The controversial pantless trend and super short shorts are on the news this season as well, and some of the most daring styling will be done with high boots and, of course, pantyhose. The effect is similar to when they are worn in pairs with miniskirts, and in both cases the combination can be completed by a leather jacket, as well as an oversized jacket or the king of the classics – raincoat. To finish off the impression, as Scandi girls like to do, don’t forget striking fashion accessories.

ALL IN THE SAME COLOR (NO, IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE WHITE.)

Monochromatic outfits always look visually interesting and fresh, especially if the styling is the same color from head to toe, including shoes and other fashion accessories such as a bag and a hat or scarf. Although not a “must”, this effect will probably be easiest to achieve with black, beige or white. Because of spring, we cheer for brighter ones.
