When my wardrobe feels dull, I turn to legendary Stranger Things outfits

The end of the year is traditionally dedicated to the holidays and preparations for winter break. However, this year, almost more than glitter, Christmas trees, and cookies, the end of the year has been marked by the end of the series Stranger Things. Truly, this is not typical holiday content, but the final season of this hit series, which took Netflix by storm in early December, has us all glued to our screens, unable to resist pressing the “next episode” button.

From the very beginning of its run, Stranger Things stood out for its distinctive 1980s-inspired aesthetic, which can largely be attributed to the films that partially inspired the vibe of the series. Our culture editor Tara put together a list of those films, in case you are looking for something to watch while waiting for the final part of the fifth season. It is clear that fashion did not lag behind the stylish aesthetic of the series either, and some outfits were so legendary that they have stayed etched in our minds almost a decade after we first saw them on screen. Eighties aesthetics are back in fashion, with silhouettes that emphasize the shoulders, interesting footwear, and clothing in bold colors, so I believe that 2026 will be the perfect time to recreate outfits from the series Stranger Things. And, truth be told, I believe we will want to remember this series for months after it ends.

Honestly, I am not someone who enjoys experimenting much with colors and styles, but the costume design of Stranger Things impressed me so much that it will definitely inspire my style in the period ahead, especially when I do not know what to wear. Below, I highlight five legendary outfits that I am still thinking about, along with inspiration for how I would recreate them in 2026.
