Just nine days and nine hours remain until the continuation of the fifth and final season of Stranger Things. That is what the big red Netflix countdown clock says as it ticks away toward what may be some of the most thrilling episodes ever released on this streaming platform. The end is indeed near, but there is still so much left to be resolved in the quarantined town of Hawkins, and it certainly does not help that Netflix is toying with our emotions by releasing the series in three separate parts, right in the middle of the holiday season. Still, some news has arrived to at least slightly calm the nerves of all of us who binge-watched the first part of season five on the night it premiered: the trailer for the second part is finally here.
“This is not the end, not even close,” Joyce tells Will, who feels as though everything is over after the turbulent events of the final episode of the first part. But judging by what we have seen, a fierce battle still lies ahead for our favorite young heroes. It seems that they, and we along with them, will uncover new and deeply unsettling truths about the Upside Down in the episodes to come. Eleven is determined to defeat Vecna, and while I admire her courage, I cannot help but worry about her fate at times. Will Eleven remain safe in that fight? After all, the creators of the series have made it clear that in the new show set within the same universe, our protagonists will likely not appear at all.

One thing is certain: another thrilling season lies ahead of us, or rather, another part of a season, and Stranger Things still has many stories it wants to tell and many events waiting for its heroes. Below, watch the latest trailer for the second part of the series, which premieres on December 25. It may not be your standard holiday content, but it will certainly bring families together in front of the television, popcorn and cookies in hand.
