Everything you need to know about the 2026 SAG Awards Nominations

Tara Đukić

January 8, 2026

A new year, a new name for the Screen Actors Guild Awards. After 30 years, the ceremony is now called the Actor Awards, but this in no way diminishes its prestige. On the contrary – the competition at the Actor Awards 2026 is stronger than ever. Ahead of the Golden Globe Awards on January 11, SAG-AFTRA announced this year’s nominations. The nominees were revealed by Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie (we’re still obsessed) and Janelle James from Abbott Elementary, and they were voted on by the largest voting body of any awards show, with more than 160,000 members.

This year, One Battle After Another leads the pack with seven nominations, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Chase Infiniti, Teyana Taylor, Benicio del Toro, and Sean Penn. Sinners also made a strong showing with five nominations. Ariana Grande made history once again, earning a nomination for her role as Glinda in Wicked: For Good, becoming the only actress in SAG-AFTRA history to receive consecutive nominations for the same role. Timothée Chalamet was nominated for the second year in a row, this time for Marty Supreme – last year he won for portraying Bob Dylan in A Completed Unknown.

On the television side, longtime favorites Severance, The Bear, Abbott Elementary, and Hacks received recognition once again. New series The Pitt and The Studio also earned nominations. Personally, some of my favorite nods were for the lead actors in The Beast In Me: Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys. The Actor Awards ceremony will stream on Netflix on March 1, and the foundation has already confirmed that Hollywood legend Harrison Ford will receive the highest honor, the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award.

Below, discover the biggest surprises and the full list of nominations for the SAG Awards 2026.

Cynthia Erivo Misses Out on Wicked: For Good

Despite a Golden Globe nomination, Cynthia Erivo was not nominated this year for SAG Awards for her role as Elphaba – marking a second major oversight after being left out of the Critics Choice Awards. Last year, the same role in the first Wicked film earned her both an Oscar and a SAG nomination, but this time she was not included (while her co-star Ariana Grande is nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category).

Stranger Things in an Unexpected Category

Although Netflix’s final season of Stranger Things did not receive any acting nominations, its stunt team was surprisingly nominated. We’ll take it.

Gwyneth Paltrow Snubbed for Marty Supreme

Despite a strong PR campaign and multiple cast nominations, including Odessa A’Zion and Timothée Chalamet, Gwyneth Paltrow did not receive her own SAG nomination this year (although she was formally recognized through a nomination for Best Cast Ensemble in a Film).

Rising Young Actor Miles Caton

After winning the Critics Choice Award for Best Young Actor this week, we’re thrilled to see Miles Caton now receive a SAG nomination in a highly competitive category. If you’ve seen Sinners, it’s clear this recognition is well-deserved.

The Last of Us Also Snubbed

Despite a nomination for Best Stunt Ensemble in a TV series, the second season of HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us did not receive any individual or ensemble acting nominations.
