The exciting season of film and television awards has begun. After the Critics Choice Awards, the Golden Globes followed, and as usual, they drew attention not only with the list of winners but also with a glamorous red carpet where stars shone in their finest fashion looks. Among them, one name stood out in particular: Renate Reinsve, a Norwegian actress facing a brilliant year after numerous nominations earned thanks to her role as Nora Borg in Joachim Trier’s drama Sentimental Value.
The actress, who made her screen debut in Joachim Trier’s film Oslo (2011) and delivered her first widely acclaimed performance, also in a Trier film, The Worst Person in the World (2021), appeared on the Golden Globes red carpet in a breathtaking Louis Vuitton creation designed by Nicolas Ghesquière. The dress was composed of more than 800,000 tubular beads, each one hand sewn into 2,900 long fringes, and it took the French fashion house’s team over 2,840 hours to turn the sketches into reality. Reinsve told Vogue that it was “her favorite dress ever,” and the winning look, which topped nearly every best dressed list, was created in collaboration with Karla Welch, one of Hollywood’s most sought after stylists who has been dressing the biggest stars for more than two decades, helping them shine under the camera flashes during the high pressure awards season.

The family drama Sentimental Value, in which Renate stars alongside Stellan Skarsgård and Elle Fanning, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, and it was precisely there that her dominance of red carpets at award ceremonies, film premieres, and other glamorous Hollywood events began. Although she had previously attracted attention with her recognizable Scandi style, often opting for oversized pieces and engaging in thoughtful style experiments, the past year was the one in which Renate received the level of media attention on the red carpet that she deserves. Just like Scandi girls do, confident and authentic, her understated beauty and cool attitude elevated every outfit to a new level.

At her first Oscars in 2022, she appeared in a Louis Vuitton flapper dress inspired by the 1920s, and she chose the same fashion house for her first Met Gala, which she also attended that year. Then, instead of a conventional outfit, she opted for one that defied the rules: latex trousers and a richly embroidered top with a cape. Although something of a newcomer on red carpets, Renate navigated her style choices flawlessly, embracing risk when it was welcome and understated elegance when the occasion called for it.
Louis Vuitton has followed her faithfully in this, as the brand she most often chose for her red carpet appearances, from an elegant peplum dress in Cannes, through a voluminous sculptural gown for the London Film Festival, to an irresistible fringed creation for the Golden Globes 2026. Other brands occasionally step into her “love affair” with Louis Vuitton. For the Critics Choice Awards, she chose a simple black gown by The Row, for the Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards 2026 she wore a sheer white Givenchy dress by Sarah Burton, and at the Los Angeles premiere of Sentimental Value she completely captivated in a magical red creation signed by Schiaparelli. Based on everything we have seen so far, it seems that Renate Reinsve will dominate red carpets in the film awards season that has only just begun.
