Pantelleria is an island suspended between myth and reality, perfectly made for weddings.

Ginevra Bruno and Mathias Capra met four years ago in a bar in Turin, Italy, at a time when neither of them was looking for a relationship, both embarking on new professional paths, they revealed to Vogue Adria. Ginevra was already packed and ready to move to Paris, while Mathias was determined to stay in his own city. Yet, although their lives were moving in opposite directions, just like their personalities – he rational and thoughtful, she sensitive and instinctive – love brought them together and kept them together. Since they met, they have constantly been traveling between cities, discovering new countries, and growing as a couple, which ultimately culminated in their wedding last July.

Their wedding was also conceived as a way to discover a new place, a “complete immersion into a new dimension.” The Italian island near Sicily, Pantelleria, was precisely that choice: the two of them, alone in nature, surrounded by sea and wind. “We wanted our wedding to be elegant, sophisticated, yet simple – because true beauty comes from naturalness. We wanted to share this moment far from everyday life,” says Ginevra, adding that they asked their guests to do the same: “We wanted them to spend three days fully embracing our sense of family, friendship, and values.”

The Italian mystical island is made even more poetic by the legends that surround it. It is said that Pantelleria was the legendary island of Ogygia, home to the nymph Calypso, suspended between sea and wind, born from the fiery embrace of fire and water. According to legend, giants took refuge there to guard the secrets of the volcano, while the sea currents wove songs of lost loves and impossible returns. The island, black as the obsidian that covers it, is fertile with vineyards which, nourished by wind and sun, produce ancient wine. It is also generous with thermal springs, said to have been visited by Venus, the goddess of love, who mirrored her beauty in them, leaving a trace of her grace that endures to this day. Pantelleria is thus today a dreamy myth of the eternal encounter between opposites: fire and water, harshness and gentleness. And anyone who arrives here finds not just a land, but a promise of eternity – to live, at least for a moment, within the legend itself. Photographer Daniela from The Fashion Wedding experienced the island in a truly unique way and didn’t hide her admiration for its poetic charm when speaking to Vogue Adria. “The wind arrived like an uninvited guest—furious, poetic, unstoppable. As a wedding photographer, I knew there was no point in fighting it. Instead, we chose to dance with it. The wind became our muse, shaping every frame with raw elegance.”
It is precisely this deep, almost mystical dimension that makes Pantelleria a dream destination for those seeking a wedding beyond the ordinary. And no one knows better how to interpret and bring to life the spirit of the island than Mauro Adami, founder of Domo Adami Events, whom the couple hired to organize their wedding. Once a fashion designer, Mauro has transformed into one of Italy’s most visionary wedding planners, turning his knowledge of style and scenography into the true art of celebration. For Adami, choosing Pantelleria is not merely a stylistic decision; it is an artistic statement. The volcanic beauty of the island, its steep cliffs, and deep connection to nature provide a setting in which every wedding becomes an emotional and visual masterpiece. “Pantelleria isn’t just a backdrop,” he explains, “it’s a living part of the story.”
Ginevra and Mathias chose their dream location because it is situated in a part of Pantelleria where the only backdrop is the sea and nature. “We wanted it to be a moment where everyone could focus on human connections and their bond with nature.” Pantelleria Dream Resort served as the venue for the ceremony as well as the three-day celebration for the couple and their guests, surrounded by ancient dammusi and centuries-old palm trees, designed simply to preserve and respect the essence of the island. “The most unforgettable moments in locations like this often come at sunset: the sky ignites with color, the sea reflects the light, and the volcanic rock seems to hold its breath. In that silence, as vows are exchanged, Pantelleria itself becomes a witness to love—eternal, raw, and impossibly beautiful,” added Adami.
From the very beginning, Ginevra knew that her dress would be made by her mother and aunt from the atelier Sorelle Collezioni Private, which highlighted her deep connection to family. The emotion that accompanied her from the start was pure joy! Step by step, together with the designers, the dress took shape. “I found inspiration within myself, among classic cuts enriched with contemporary details, and one element I couldn’t live without was the elegant and refined neckline.” When Ginevra saw the dress for the first time, she felt both happiness and fear – it was a sign of a new beginning. “Walking down the aisle in a dress created by my family meant carrying my roots, my heritage, and the lessons that will accompany me throughout my life.”
Mathias, following the black-tie dress code required for the wedding, wore a classic black tuxedo. His choice was guided by a desire to remain true to timeless sophistication while adding a modern touch. “Every element, from the soft sheen of the satin to the clean lines of the tailoring, reflected his personality—elegant, confident, and refined,” says Ginevra, noting that the guests also followed the proposed theme. “The guests, dressed in a color palette inspired by the shades of the island, seemed to blend seamlessly with the landscape. Every dress, every detail, spoke to the colors of the earth, the beige tones of the dammusi, and the green of myrtle and juniper, creating a unique and harmonious effect.”

The most precious moment for Ginevra was while getting ready, “overwhelmed with anxiety, joy, and a thousand emotions.” At one point, they told her to turn around because the groom was coming. Just then, before she turned, she saw him passing in the distance and felt her legs tremble, the same as when she walked down the aisle and saw him in front of her. “The feeling of being loved, that gaze that opens the door to new dreams, goals, and aspirations – together. Making a vow that lasts forever.” For Mathias, the most special moment of the wedding was the quiet pause before it began—while waiting in the church. “Seeing her walk toward me felt as if time had stopped; as if she were gently leaving her old life behind and starting a new chapter by my side. It was a moment filled with emotion, where love, gratitude, and eternity seemed to merge into one.”
Ginevra and Mathias’ wedding was marked by the unique natural magic of this Italian island, which, unlike larger and more famous destinations, remains a well-kept secret—a place where Giorgio Armani once had a vacation home to escape from the world.
