Nina Park’s makeup technique for plump lips is simpler than you might expect

What Kris Jenner did for the world of aesthetics, Nina Park’s makeup technique has done for the world of makeup. Every celebrity who sits in her chair, and the list is impressive, including stars like Emma Stone, Mia Goth, Zoe Kravitz, and Addison Rae, receives a Nina Park makeover. After her technique, they look like the most sophisticated and refreshed version of themselves. True, there are no drastic changes, but Nina manages to perfectly highlight their natural beauty.

While our Social Media editor Sonja decided this year to refine her own makeup skills inspired by Nina Park’s style, what caught my attention in particular were the lips she creates. They are not just the finishing touch of a look but a powerful focal point that completes the entire makeup.

Although the exact technique and method Nina Park uses for lips remain shrouded in secrecy, it is clear that it is a thoughtful fusion of already familiar techniques. Her lips are subtly contoured, creating the appearance of fuller volume, while the velvety texture gives a soft, almost tactile look of freshly kissed lips. The natural texture of the lips remains visible, and the color is perfectly rosy. The final touch is just a hint of gloss, strategically applied to the center of the lips to catch the light.

Nina Park’s technique for irresistible lips

The entire look appears irresistible, sensual, and very wearable. It works just as well with daytime, minimalist outfits as it does with evening, more seductive looks. Below, I share the steps I used in an attempt to recreate this lip makeup look, one that could easily define the year ahead.

  1. Subtle contouring: The first step is lightly contouring the lips with a brown pencil or a soft bronzer. The goal is not a sharp line but shading that creates the impression of natural volume. For lip contouring, I used Rhode Peptide Lip Shape in the shade Bend.
  2. Color definition: The lips are then filled in with a darker pink pencil. This layer adds depth and serves as a base that extends the longevity of the other products. For color definition, I used Ilia Lip Sketch Hydrating Crayon in the shade Pink Door.
  3. Setting the edges: The edges of the lips are gently set with a transparent setting powder. This achieves a blurred lip line without smudging the color. For setting the edges, I used Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre in shade 30.
  4. Velvety texture: A nude pink, velvety lipstick is applied all over the lips. It softens transitions and gives a sophisticated finish. To achieve the velvety texture, I used Dolce & Gabbana MY Satin Lipstick in shade 01.01. N3.
  5. Touch of light: Finally, a subtle layer of gloss is added only to the center of the lips. This small detail creates dimension and the effect of fuller, fresh lips. For the gloss, I used YSL Beauty Loveshine Plumping Lip Gloss in shade Nude 44.
