5 tricks for mastering the viral Nina Park Core makeup look

I do not think I am exaggerating when I say that if there were a person living under a rock, they would probably still have heard of Nina Park. Well, perhaps the name Nina Park itself would remain reserved for beauty enthusiasts, but I firmly believe that everyone has seen at least one of her looks this year. Nina is a viral makeup artist who has worked with Hailey Bieber, Mia Goth, Emma Stone, Addison Rae and many other stars this year, creating beautiful dewy makeup looks that the online beauty community cannot stop talking about. It is clear why. Nina manages to highlight the natural beauty of each of these stars, gently enhancing their features with natural looks that are ideal for absolutely any occasion. Because of that, I am not surprised that I keep seeing Nina Park core videos lately, where social media users try to recreate this viral makeup look that suits everyone.
Since I mostly do my own makeup, the Nina Park core makeup look will be my go to this season and probably long after it. Below are 5 tricks that help me achieve this viral look.
One of the main aspects of Nina Park’s work is that the skin of the stars she works with always looks radiant. Proper skincare and deep hydration are key, especially during winter when the air is drier. The night before or the morning of an event I am getting ready for, I apply one of the Korean masks that hydrate the skin beautifully and give it that recognizable glow. Another product I always gravitate toward before applying makeup is milky essences and toners, which deeply hydrate the skin and help it look luminous while making foundation easier to apply. Of course, the choice of foundation also matters. I personally choose those with hyaluronic acid because they feel lighter on the skin, hydrate it and add extra glow, but the choice depends on your skin type. In any case, for this dewy look, stick to liquid foundations with lighter textures and BB creams.

Nina Park is not a fan of blush blindness. But her makeup looks are not like those from 2016 either, when we barely used blush at all. Blush actually plays an important role in her makeup looks, but the way you apply it is crucial. I suggest using a creamy or liquid blush that you first apply to your hand, then gently tap onto your cheeks and nose. Since the lifted look has been popular for a long time, many people apply blush to the very top of the cheekbones, but Nina Park usually places it lower on the cheeks, while applying bronzer or, even better, a cool toned contour shade gently under the cheekbones.

I personally never liked the drawn on brows we used to wear during the previous decade, but I am not a fan of brow lamination either. That is why the brows Nina Park does appeal to me the most. They are always lifted and pretty, but never overly stuck down or too dark. You can achieve this look most easily with a lightweight brow gel that you brush through your brows upward, but be careful not to glue them entirely to the skin. The key is to brush and lift them without using too much gel. If your brows are sparse, you can fill them in with a lighter, precise brow pencil.

Recently I started seeing videos where people ask what happened to eyeliner, which we used to draw almost religiously before leaving the house. If you ask me, it never went out of style because I stayed loyal to this product even during the clean girl era. Nina Park also loves eyeliner, but she applies it in a softer way that suits me more than the standard cat eye look at the moment. The key to the Nina Park core makeup look is that everything is blurred, nicely blended and without sharp lines, including the eyeliner. Since the point of eyeliner is usually those sharp lines, it may take a few tries to get the desired effect, but is that not always the case with eyeliner? Start with a dark brown or black eyeshadow that you apply with a thin brush to the corner of the eye to lift it visually. Blend this line with a fluffy brush so that there are no sharp edges on the lid. Then take a liquid eyeliner and draw a thin line at the very base of the eyeshadow flick. Finally, use the same brush to apply eyeshadow over the drawn eyeliner to soften the top edge. The key is to blend only on the lid, never under the eye.

My roman empire. This new makeup trick is probably my favorite part of every Nina Park look. Overlined lips can often look quite chaotic, but this makeup artist managed to give us a technique that makes them look beautiful. Nina Park uses something similar to the contour lips technique, where she applies contour to the corners of the lips and blends it so they look fuller. She then goes over the natural lip line with a slightly darker lip pencil, blending that inward as well and creating that very Hailey Bieber look. To finish, apply a gloss or lip balm to the center of the lips to make them look even softer, but be careful not to place a creamy product over the penciled contours because the key to this soft, blurry look is that the contours remain matte.
