January is, as a rule, the month in which we write a new round of decisions, resolutions, and visions onto our wish lists and to do lists. But, hand on heart, this time I was not overly ambitious: the only “decision” I made was that I want to stay in a rest mindset for as long as possible, even if that means watching the sea from a terrace with a laptop on my lap, or typing tirelessly by day and partying just as tirelessly by night. Through other people’s cities and other people’s countries, with the familiar and the unfamiliar, a temporary apartment at a new address for this summer is already booked. The goal is to rediscover oneself, to contemplate and philosophize about meaning, not to give up the spark within, excitement, love, and passion. Like in that Buč Kesidi song: set it all on fire and let it burn.
In the same optimistic spirit are the streaming platforms, which are starting 2026 strong, with a rich lineup of new titles across a wide range of genres. Romantic comedies are making a big comeback: the long awaited adaptation of the book People We Meet On Vacation brings the story of Alex and Poppy, who find themselves on the edge between friendship and romance. And there is also the moment we have all been waiting for: the fourth season of Bridgerton, with a new fatal storyline that never seems to tire us. Thriller lovers can enjoy the series His & Hers, and for epic action there is Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials, where a classic crime novel is transformed into a three part series starring Mia McKenna-Bruce, Helena Bonham Carter, and Martin Freeman.
After all, perhaps “watching more films and series” is quite enough of a resolution for this month. Before we really pick up speed. Below, we bring you the complete list of what to watch this January on streaming platforms.
Set in a quiet town in Georgia, this psychological thriller follows reclusive journalist Anna (Tessa Thompson), who begins searching for answers after hearing about a local murder. Jack (John Bernthal), the detective assigned to the case, grows suspicious of her involvement, so as he tries to unravel the crime, he simultaneously begins investigating her. Did I mention they are also former spouses? The murder reignites the dynamics of their marriage, and much more, as they accuse each other of being the prime suspect in a horrific crime.

Happy Fourth of July! The Pitt returns with its second season, following Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) and the staff of the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center through another, probably hellish, shift. Yes, the story once again takes place on American Independence Day. Dana (Katherine LaNasa) and Dr. Langdon (Patrick Ball) return, new doctors arrive, and HBO Max has released the opening scene of the second season in which Robby rides a motorcycle. We can only hope that purchase came on the recommendation of his therapist.

The first season of The Night Manager was a co production between AMC and the BBC and aired as a limited series in the winter of 2016. Now, almost ten years later, the series returns with a second season as a Prime Video exclusive. The world has changed dramatically since then: Brexit had not yet happened, Olivia Colman had not yet won an Oscar and an Emmy, and Tom Hiddleston was not even dating Taylor Swift. Still, espionage must go on, and Hiddleston’s Jonathan Pine now works as a lower level agent in MI6, until a chance encounter once again draws him into the web of conspiracy that he and Angela Burr (Colman) uncovered years ago. His new target is Colombian businessman Teddy Dos Santos (Diego Calva), and the fate of an entire nation rests on Pine’s shoulders. The first season was based on the novel by the legendary author John le Carré, while the second and the upcoming third season are entirely new stories.
