A guide to the most beautiful wedding venues in the region

Experts helped us choose the most beautiful places for the big day.

For a special occasion such as a wedding, it is worth choosing an equally special location. A pleasant atmosphere, a beautifully arranged setting, and dear, good-spirited people around you will make the day and the time spent truly unforgettable. Across the region there are stunning wedding venues, and certain destinations are becoming increasingly popular, as experts have revealed to us.

Montenegro is an increasingly popular destination with a unique charm

“The growing popularity of Montenegro as a wedding destination in Europe shows just how much this country has to offer couples looking for something special for their big day. Montenegro offers fairytale outdoor wedding locations with views of the sea and mountain peaks in the background, while at the same time providing rustic and picturesque venues in the north for romantic weddings in a mountain setting,” says Adela Međedović from the agency Eventive Montenegro, which has been demonstrating great expertise in organizing various types of weddings since 2019. “In Montenegro, the possibilities for organizing a wedding are endless. From restaurants with breathtaking sea views and intimate villas with traditional charm, to luxury complexes offering top-level service and comfort, this country has everything you need for a perfect wedding. Whether you want a romantic ceremony by the coast, a rustic celebration in a mountain setting, or a glamorous event in an exclusive complex, Montenegro will delight you with its diversity and beauty.”

For Vogue Adria, Adela shared four locations in Montenegro that are especially popular for weddings. These are venues that captivated us at first sight with their beauty and ideal surroundings.

Besac Heritage Retreat

“Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Virpazar, the Besac Heritage Retreat restaurant represents an ideal location for unforgettable weddings. The Besac fortress dates back to the 15th century and exudes rich history, while the beauty of its surroundings makes it a captivating place for couples. With its ancient stone walls and stunning views of Lake Skadar, the Besac fortress provides a romantic atmosphere.”

Galija Beach

“Galija Beach, with its idyllic location among the rocks of the Montenegrin coast, offers the perfect setting for romantic seaside weddings.”

Vista Viewpoint Restaurant

“This restaurant is located on an elevation with a beautiful view of Budva Old Town and the Adriatic Sea, providing a perfect backdrop for weddings.”

Đardin Restaurant and Leon Coronato Hotel

“One of the most attractive restaurants and hotels in Perast, in the Bay of Kotor, was created within an old 16th-century building. Located right on the shore of one of the most beautiful bays in the world, with stunning views of two islands, Our Lady of the Rocks and St. George, they are a very popular choice for weddings due to their romantic ambiance.”

Why are locations on the Adriatic coast so sought after?

Tea Bundalo and Tamara Shatkova, co-owners of Adriatic Weddings Croatia, an agency specialized in planning and executing weddings on the Croatian coast, answered this question for me. Clients who wish to get married in Croatia mostly come for what the country is known for around the world: sea and sun. We have a long season and beautiful sunny weather. Hvar is very popular due to its beauty, but also because of its nickname, the “sunny island.” They know the scene well and, for Vogue Adria, highlight luxury wedding venues as well as perhaps less luxurious but very popular ones.

Belaj Castle, Istria

If you dream of a castle wedding, the Istrian Belaj Castle could serve as a location straight out of a bygone tale. Its historical architecture and authentic interiors create a warm, romantic atmosphere, while the lush gardens and surrounding nature provide the perfect backdrop for an outdoor ceremony. The original castle spaces are flexible enough to host both small, intimate weddings and larger celebrations, and the fact that a wine cellar is located within the castle itself makes this location an excellent choice for celebrations.

Saint Hills Cantina, Istra

As an extension of the renowned winery from Pelješac, Saint Hills Cantina opened in 2024 on a beautiful, spacious estate in Istria, in the heart of the vineyards near Višnjan. When you step into Saint Hills Cantina, the relaxed atmosphere and pleasant energy of the space are immediately felt. Rustic details and contemporary design create an intimate setting, perfect for weddings that want to feel personal rather than pretentious. The space is flexible enough for small celebrations or larger gatherings centered around a dance floor and music.

San Canzian, Istra

“A location for couples seeking something very intimate, among vineyards and nature. San Canzian is fully privatized for weddings, which is always a very special feeling for both the couple and their guests. At Adriatic Weddings Croatia, we particularly recommend it for smaller weddings of up to 60 guests, in order to make full use of its potential.”

Palace Elisabeth, Hvar

“This heritage hotel is truly one of the most beautiful wedding locations in Croatia. It requires full privatization of the hotel and can only be rented in the pre-season and post-season, but it is worth the wait. The terrace offers a stunning view of Hvar harbor, and the rooms and service are the embodiment of luxury,” say Tea and Tamara from Adriatic Weddings Croatia.

Brown Beach, Trogir

“This location can be fully privatized, but it does not have to be. Anyone who has ever explored wedding venues in Croatia has certainly come across an image of the iconic pool with black-and-white tiles. The beautiful view makes this location a truly wonderful place for a wedding,” advise Adriatic Weddings Croatia.

Maslina Resort, Hvar

“Weddings are often associated with stress, and this location is the complete opposite. Maslina Resort is an oasis of peace that is fully privatized for weddings. It offers plenty of space not only for the wedding itself, but also for various activities over several days. A truly ideal place to rest both body and soul,” advise Tea and Tamara, who add three more locations to the list.

Beach Club, Hvar

“This is the most popular location at Adriatic Weddings Croatia. We really love working here because they truly have everything, from stunning views to great food and service. It can be beautifully decorated and always looks fantastic in photos.”

Villa Dalmacija

“Definitely the most popular location in Split, and for good reason. Because it is somewhat ‘separated from the rest of the world,’ you truly get a sense of intimacy with your guests. It is most beautiful in the evening, with lights above the terrace and reflected in the sea, especially in the summer months when its famous bougainvillea is in bloom.”

Restaurant Proto

“Dubrovnik is known for many beautiful wedding locations, but not everyone may have heard of this restaurant in that context. The terrace is stunning, surrounded by old palaces and beautiful stone. The service is top-notch, and the food and drink selection are even better.”

Camping Plitvice

If you are looking for a place where love is celebrated in a natural setting, Camping Plitvice offers exactly that. A space in the heart of unspoiled nature provides a unique backdrop for the ceremony and photographs, filled with the scent of the forest. Flexible outdoor areas and a terrace allow for small, intimate celebrations as well as larger gatherings with music. Nature itself serves as the decoration, and the atmosphere is relaxed, warm, and unpretentious. Camping Plitvice is ideal for couples who want to make their wedding authentic and close to nature, far from the city bustle, while not having to worry about accommodation for their guests.

Dream wedding locations in Dubrovnik

The city of Dubrovnik is not only a summer tourist gem, but also a destination for special weddings for couples from all over the world. This is best known by Ines Nanić, owner of the agency Dubrovnik Event, who has gained enviable experience and contacts that open all doors for events under her guidance to be successful. For Vogue Adria, she revealed truly special locations if you decide to get married in Dubrovnik.

Lovrijenac

“If we were to look for the king of Dubrovnik wedding venues, without a doubt it would be Lovrijenac, a fortress outside the city walls that proudly stands at a height of about forty meters. Lovrijenac has hosted all the celebrity weddings in this city and will undoubtedly host many more. Its impressiveness, exclusivity, privacy, and beauty are unrivaled. Not to mention the view. From all the terraces, there is a view of the Dubrovnik city walls and the entire Old Town, as well as the open sea stretching far ahead. Fun fact: Lovrijenac is the only location in Dubrovnik where music can continue past midnight.”

Museum of Modern Art Dubrovnik

“Last year we had a wedding on the impressive terrace of Dubrovnik’s art gallery while an Andy Warhol exhibition was on display inside. The newlyweds could hardly contain their excitement. It is the only terrace in the city available for wedding rentals that offers an incredible postcard-worthy view of the Old Town, the pearl of the Adriatic. Fun fact: in order to align with its priorities and cultural perspective, the music allowed at Dubrovnik MOMA is exclusively foreign, classical, or klapa. Even Oliver’s songs do not make the cut. Because of this, it is more popular among foreigners than locals.”

Višnjica

“Once a meadow with one of the most impressive views in the world, today this spectacular wedding venue has been ‘developed’ to serve as an ideal stage for any special event. Wherever you look, your jaw drops, and it is less than 10 minutes from Dubrovnik. One of the rare ‘green’ locations open for wedding rentals that functions exclusively as such.”

Magnificent mountain nature in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bosnia and Herzegovina is an increasingly popular wedding destination, offering a wealth of beautiful landscapes, historical landmarks, and hospitable people who will make your wedding an unforgettable event. Martina Saira is the manager and director of the mountain resort Javorov Do, and she also organizes events and decorates weddings and luxury events. The Javorov Do excursion site, located within the natural and scenic values of Bjelašnica, lies at an altitude of 1,250 to 1,350 meters and offers numerous opportunities to enjoy a wide range of hiking and sports activities. In recent years, it has also become one of the favorite wedding locations in Bosnia. The natural setting of Javorov Do creates unforgettable memories. Here, you can choose from a range of wedding ceremony and reception locations, each designed to reflect the beauty of a secluded and natural environment as an unconventional place for your wedding. The complex is located 25 km from Sarajevo, just 2.5 km from the Bjelašnica ski center. The scents, the colors of the lake, the rustling of the trees, and the stone amphitheater form the most beautiful backdrop for such an important day as a wedding.

Slovenian castles create a special atmosphere for weddings

Petra Čuk is the owner of the agency Da Petra, which successfully organizes weddings throughout Slovenia with her experience and skills, especially at Lake Bled. She shared some of her favorite and most beautiful Slovenian locations with us.

Bled Castle, Lake Bled

“Bled Castle is a breathtaking historical landmark located atop a steep cliff above the magnificent Lake Bled. It offers unparalleled views of the surroundings. Civil ceremonies can be held on its upper terrace, and there is also a small chapel where church weddings can take place. If the weather is nice, the wedding dinner can be organized outdoors on the castle terrace. The castle restaurant is managed by Jezeršek, Slovenia’s leading hospitality company, guaranteeing top-quality cuisine and impeccable service.”

Villa Bled, Lake Bled

“Villa Bled is another historic location in Bled, a former royal and presidential residence that has been transformed into a boutique hotel. It is surrounded by a lush green park right on the shores of Lake Bled and offers the highest level of privacy, as weddings held at the villa require renting the entire hotel with its 33 rooms. This exclusive location is the best option for a civil ceremony with a lake view. The wedding dinner can also be held outdoors, and in the villa park there is a fascinating separate structure, the Belvedere Pavilion, where after-parties can take place.”

Otočec Castle, Otočec

“Otočec Castle is a very romantic wedding location, a historic castle situated on a small island in the middle of the beautiful Krka River. The castle is a Relais & Chateaux hotel that is exclusively rented for weddings, offering privacy for a ceremony held in the castle park by the riverbank, as well as a dinner that can be organized in the castle courtyard. The hotel offers first-class cuisine and service.”

Zemono Castle, Zemono

“The dreamy Renaissance Zemono Castle is perched on a hill in the Vipava Valley, surrounded by vineyards. This elegant wedding venue, where ceremonies can be held in the castle park and dinners on the outdoor terrace, is owned by Michelin-starred chef Tomaž Kavčič. Dinner can also be held in the castle’s unique frescoed hall.”

Hotel Kempinski Palace, Portorož

“Kempinski Palace is Slovenia’s best seaside wedding location, where ceremonies can be held in the beautiful hotel park or on its rooftop. The stunning historic Kempinski ballroom is the place for elegant wedding dinners and refined celebrations.”

Charming locations in Serbia for unforgettable experiences

Serbia does not lag behind in charm or unique locations, and it was almost difficult to narrow the selection down to just a few of the best. Wedding planner and decorator, and owner of the agency Studio Art Garden, Jovana Popović, included two exciting locations on her list.

Zvonko Bogdan Winery

“This is a location that offers many possibilities. You can organize a wedding inside the winery itself or outdoors in nature, as they have a beautiful area in front of the winery. Here you get an exclusive space with a fantastic menu and top-quality wines. The couple receives a comfortable suite for preparation and overnight stay, and the guests enjoy a fantastic time and experience. In Palić itself, accommodation is not expensive, nor is taxi transportation, so guests can truly relax and enjoy themselves.”

Dream Event Centar

“This center is one of the most exclusive locations in Belgrade. It is located within Beton Hala alongside many other great venues, so after the wedding there is no need to wander far if someone is up for an after-party. What is great about this location is that you get an exclusive space that is very easy to adapt to all kinds of celebrations, and with a little decoration it can look very beautiful. The management has taken care to offer several types of menus.”

One of the busiest agencies for weddings and various other events is Arkadia. They recently advised us on how to organize an eco-friendly wedding, and here they add a few more favorite wedding locations in Serbia to the previous list.

Schulhoff Castle

“This is a private villa with a smaller indoor capacity, but a very beautiful garden and estate where we held an outdoor celebration.”

Topčiderac

“This restaurant was built next to a former quarry and alongside Topčider Park, one of Belgrade’s favorite wedding spots. It is located beneath an open summer stage. The wedding ceremony is most often held beneath the quarry cliffs, while the celebration itself takes place in the restaurant, which offers one of the best gastronomic selections in Belgrade for large celebrations.”

Salon 1905

“This fine dining restaurant is located in the historic Geozavod building, and precisely because of its appearance it is considered an interesting space for smaller weddings.”
