The ultimate last-minute Advent wreath guide is here

IVA MARIĆ

December 13, 2025

The holiday fever is slowly starting to catch me now, what about you? Still, I am not giving in. There is still time, and I am diving into thorough research on where to find interior details that will elevate the atmosphere at home to the festive level it deserves.

If you ask me, everything starts with that first holiday wreath, whether you place it on the table or hang it on the door, as the first invitation to your own personal holidays. It seems to me that a charming holiday wreath opens the door to that first festive note. Once I get it, I know we are starting. Personally, I prefer minimalist versions of holiday wreaths, without too many details, as natural as possible, although I also consider a plastic option a long-term solution, in which case it should last for years. That is the only way it makes sense.

And as the days grow shorter, the sense of anticipation toward the end of the year only intensifies, turning everyday moments into small signs that the holidays are already here. If you are like me and still have not picked up a holiday wreath, your last-minute guide awaits below.

Zagreb

The fact that over the past few years we have witnessed a return to minimalism, increasingly natural materials, and a design-driven approach that makes each wreath feel almost personalized makes me happy. Small florists truly excel in this area, which means you might order your Advent wreath a day earlier, but you will receive a piece of art for your table or door. The most dominant expressions among small florists are minimalist wreaths with clean lines and neutral tones, accented by subtle details such as velvet and metal, with a visible natural, craft-oriented approach using moss, we noticed Icelandic moss, pine, berries, and dried branches. Rich textures like velvet or wool are often used, and statement details replace an abundance of decorations. One striking bow or a sculptural branch is enough.

Belgrade

In small Belgrade floral studios, warm, contemporary wreaths currently dominate, blending urban minimalism with glam details. Instead of classic opulence, refined forms are increasingly favored, with an emphasis on natural greenery such as pine, thuja, and eucalyptus. Floral studios often use dried elements such as cotton, pampas grass, lavender, and textured twigs, giving the wreaths that beloved artisanal touch. This season, Belgrade favors a palette of warm winter tones like deep wine, caramel, olive, and vintage gold. Velvet ribbons and hand-shaped metal details add a note of subtle luxury. Asymmetrical wreaths that feel sculptural and completely unconventional are also trending.

Ljubljana

In Ljubljana’s small florists, elegant, Scandinavian-inspired holiday wreaths prevail, with an emphasis on natural materials and pared-down forms. A combination of Nordic minimalism and Alpine rustic style is becoming increasingly popular, so fir, spruce, moss, and dried forest branches are often used. Floral studios like to add subtle design accents such as ceramic ornaments, recycled paper, linen ribbons, and matte metal elements. Soft, earthy tones dominate, including forest green, gray, cream, and natural wood shades, with the occasional accent in copper or matte gold. Asymmetrical wreaths are present as a classic with a twist, and handcrafted work is especially valued in Slovenia as well, where an ecological approach is also on the rise.
