This season, everyone’s talking about the jacket that ruled the nineties, so of course I had to try it myself

This time of year always stirs up a very specific kind of nostalgia in me. Warm, lazy mornings with cartoons, the final ballet rehearsals before the annual show, snowy adventures during winter break, New Year’s Eve with the whole family gathered: my grandfather dancing the twist before he (not-so) unexpectedly turns into Santa at midnight, and by morning everything feels like a dream. Soft, sparkling, endless. Our games meant freedom, our togetherness was a small nest of safety, comic books and youth magazines shaped our imagination, and the simplicity of life left no room for worry. In every childhood photo, my friends and I are wearing MONT jackets. Mine is green, three sizes too big, down to my knees, very clearly and silently my brother’s.
