Kate and Anthony Bridgerton are still my favorite couple and they are returning soon

Dearest gentle reader, this author must confess that it took her quite some time to agree to watch Bridgerton, despite her friends insisting it was an excellent series. But I must also admit that once I finally pressed play, eager to spare myself a long and exhausting journey, I watched Bridgerton in just a few days. I fell almost instantly in love with the story between Daphne and the Duke, enchanted by their chemistry and by the themes the series explored beyond their relationship. Of course, I was deeply disappointed to see that these actors barely appeared in the second season and, to be honest, I almost gave up on the show altogether. Had that happened, I would have missed my favorite season.

This author does not like to single out favorites, but I will say just this: only one couple gave us the line “You are the bane of my existence and the object of all my desires.” Those words spoken by Anthony Bridgerton, who is also the best brother in the Bridgerton family, I think we do not even need to debate that, were circulating across my social media feeds for days ahead of the new season’s premiere, as one of the most beautiful lines in the series that fans simply, well, adore and know by heart. You can therefore imagine my shock and disbelief when, after the release of the fourth season, Rotten Tomatoes published reviews of all seasons to date, declaring the second season the lowest rated, even though that lowest score is still quite high at 78 percent. And while I might have even questioned my own personal preferences, since when it comes to series I often have unpopular opinions, I could not dismiss the countless posts from angry fans who claim the result is not a matter of quality, but of outright racism.

Do not get me wrong, I am genuinely enjoying the fourth season and the very romantic, classic fairytale story between Benedict and Sophie, but nothing compares to Kathony. Their looks, their conversations, that one scene where Anthony pauses mid-step to take in her scent, Kate and Anthony elevate yearning to an entirely new level. Even when they appear briefly in the third season, merely to pay their respects to the family, they outshine every other couple. This is largely because each of them is, individually, a brilliant, layered, and compelling character, who together become the perfect duo and family advisers, even though it seems to me that everyone would rather listen to Kate than to their brother. It is therefore no surprise that they are probably the most popular Bridgerton couple, if we exclude Queen Charlotte and King George in the spin-off series. And it seems that India is not far enough after all, because even four years after their season, fans have not stopped making edits, rewatching this excellent season, and eagerly awaiting their return.

Their departure for India felt to me like a subtle hint that they too, just like Daphne and Simon, would gradually leave the series. However, Jonathan Bailey delighted us with wonderful news. In true Bridgerton fashion, he does not plan to leave the show anytime soon. Moreover, he said that he will always feel like the eldest brother and that he cannot wait to film the planned eight seasons, with the fifth and sixth now officially confirmed, and to gather and realize how far they have come. At this pace, that should happen only in 2034, so it seems to me that we still have plenty of time to enjoy these wonderful characters. And then came the best news of the fourth season of Bridgerton, sorry, Benedict. Kate and Anthony return from India with their daughter.

“It took them so many years to find a child with Kate’s famous eyebrows” is my favorite fan comment on the first photos of this fictional family. Indeed, Bridgerton places a strong emphasis on casting, choosing actors with similar features who truly look related. But whatever the reason we had to wait until the second part of the fourth season for their return, one thing is certain: we are now waiting even more impatiently for the new episodes, which are released on February 26.
