Graphics by regional authors that raise the mood and value of the walls
The works of local authors served us as inspiration for refreshing the interior

The artist Jelena Bando opened the 36 Mountains gallery in Zagreb a few years ago, a sort of continuation of her charming little festival of the same name dedicated to illustration, graphics and related visual expressions. I remember when I saw Dunja Janković’s works for the first time, it was love at first sight. Although I couldn’t immediately explain why, I was magnetically attracted to her. I guess that’s what graphics do to you inexplicably, it hits you where you didn’t know it existed, gently and unobtrusively, without classical figurative art.
I saw Dunja’s work again recently in London, in the Faww gallery, which as part of its temporary pop up shop (a famous Kiosk from the old Yugoslavia), decided to present graphics, illustrations and prints by authors from this area. There I met architect and interior designer Shida Salehi, another Dunja fan whose graphic prints resonate deeply with her sensibility. Layering and dynamic compositions evoke a sense of spatial depth and complexity that parallels the way I approach architectural design. The bold use and combination of color and abstract shapes in her work also inspires my creativity and I just enjoy her simplistic approach.

In addition to being a decorative element , graphics have also become a kind of investment over time. Graphics can be collected today and viewed as an investment, given that it is not uncommon for the value of individual artists’ graphics to increase up to 10 times over a period of ten years , say the Kolektionart platform. Given that they come as originals or in limited series, signed by the author, they are small works of art on the wall. In addition to Dunja, numerous regional artists create interesting graphics created using different techniques; screen printing, lithography… and they even play with wool, there are also original illustrations, posters, prints that we want you to keep in mind if your walls need a mood lift. And consider this collectible component of buying original works by local authors.
Jelena Miličević, Serbia
Jelena skilfully shows fragments of a more beautiful, relaxed reality, conjuring up simple scenes from everyday life with few words. Although the motifs are simple, her bright colors do not allow us to forget the message she sends.
Anja Petrović, Serbia
Portraiture is central to her artwork and research, and includes combining screen printing on different materials, as well as exploring drawing using wool. Her alternative approach to graphics is very interesting.
Urška Alič, Slovenia
Urška operates under the slogan Goods to wear — to age, and through the screen printing technique she explores the relationships and tensions between shapes, surfaces, shadows, transparency. He transfers the obtained relationships to graphics and clothes.
Klasja Habjan, Croatia
Klasja is engaged in illustration, graphic design and writing. A tendency to illustrate her own stories (or to write according to graphic templates) characterizes her solo exhibitions. As artist-in-residence at a Portuguese tile factory , Viúva Lamego has designed a collection of hand-painted tiles to be exhibited at the National Tile Museum in Lisbon.
Apolonija Lučić, Croatia
Apollonia expresses herself through the medium of drawings, illustrations, comics and art books. In his work, he often starts from personal thoughts and reality, which he combines with fiction, thus creating different, figurative or abstract, visual stories.
Sofija Pašalić, Serbia
Sofija deals with illustration, an inspired selection of phenomena with their symbolism. Her artistic expression depicts a rapid and elusive flow of thoughts and observations. With digital graphics, in the form of short comics or individual illustrations, he humorously explores subcultural phenomena in his environment, their overlapping or simple simultaneous existence.
Marija Kuruzović, Serbia
Marija creates her works most often with the graphic technique of screen printing, showing personal motifs of people and animals that represent the memory of some fragments of life. Trying to make up for what was lost, he transfers the silhouettes from the photographs and places them in a new space – on paper.
Nevena Aleksovski, Slovenia
Nevena creates mostly in the media of drawing, illustration, painting, installation and found objects. He regularly presents his works at individual and group exhibitions in Slovenia and abroad, as well as at various international art fairs. So far, she has published two art books and a large number of fanzines and various art publications.
Maja Vranić, Serbia
Maja captures parts of the body, face, fabric, objects and their interaction with the camera and turns them into graphics through computer processing. Documenting intimacy and moments from private life represents a personal re-examination of a safe place, and shows the simplest – everyday life.
Diana Trohar, Croatia
In addition to painting, Diana works in graphics, illustration, ceramics, design and photography, and she exhibited her works at more than twenty group exhibitions in Croatia and abroad. It creates seemingly simple but very thoughtful impressive graphics.
Marko Vuleta Djukanov, Serbia
Marko’s works are strongly influenced by the design of the 80s and 90s, as well as the Serbian-Yugoslavian black wave of cinematography. His illustrations are characterized by bold colors and sharp lines that give them a retro feel. However, his work is also very contemporary, and he often incorporates elements of pop culture into his designs.
