A simple wellness moment that transforms your home into a peaceful oasis

Well-being scents are the biggest interior design trend, and they have almost never gone out of style.

How often do you think about the connection between the feeling of home and scent, and whether that connection forms an unbreakable bond? For me personally, the scent of home is essential. Every time I enter my apartment, the smell I notice signals to me: I’m home. The Italian brand Vranjes Firenze has been redefining the way we experience spaces through fragrance for years.

What truly makes a scent perfect for a space? “It’s the one that leaves a lasting impression, subtle yet unforgettable,” says Barbara Del Neri, Chief Marketing Officer at Vranjes Firenze. “The perfect scent doesn’t impose itself; it harmonizes with the light, the sounds, and the rhythm of those moving through the room. When fragrance and atmosphere become one, a sense of balance and inner peace emerges.” That’s exactly how I experience it – as my own personal home well-being moment. “At Vranjes Firenze, we design scents to enhance well-being, blending notes that can soothe, uplift, or inspire, creating spaces where you don’t just feel present, you feel truly good.”

Every Space Should Have Its Own Signature Scent

Since Vranjes Firenze is equally skilled in creating both home fragrances and personal perfumes, I asked Barbara what differentiates the approach. “A perfume for the body lives on the skin – like a dress, a personal signature representing you to the world. A fragrance for a space is more intimate, almost secret, yet it must breathe; it moves, interacts with materials, temperature, and air. It’s not about seduction, but about emotion — creating an atmosphere that embraces everyone who enters, evoking comfort and a subtle sense of well-being, even if they can’t quite explain why.”

She also explained how the seasons influence the scents she chooses for her own home.

“In summer, I’m drawn to bright, refreshing compositions like Ginger Lime or Limone Cedrato, with citrus and mint notes that keep the air light and full of energy. In winter, I turn to deeper, more enveloping creations such as Rosa Tabacco or Leather Oud, where rose, leather, and spices wrap the space in a comforting, elegant warmth – like a soft embrace on a cold day.”

I agree with Barbara that every home carries its own unique scent – even an office deserves one. “Each scent tells a story, allowing me to recognize the personality and atmosphere of the space, even with my eyes closed,” she says. I asked her immediately which scent she would recommend if I wanted my home to feel like a dream resort. “Think of sun and serenity. Acqua is perfect – it evokes a Mediterranean breeze. Oud Nobile or Ambra add a touch of exotic warmth that recalls distant, sun-drenched destinations.”

Scents Can Transport Us to Beautiful Places

Florence, the birthplace of art and science, is also where Vranjes Firenze was born. The brand carries the same spirit of curiosity and craftsmanship into the present. “Our laboratory, nestled at the gateway to the Chianti countryside, blends traditional Florentine artistry with modern innovation, a continuous dialogue between history and the contemporary world. Each creation is born from this balance: timeless elegance translated into fragrances that speak to today’s emotions and lifestyles.”

One fragrance in particular changed the story of the house when it comes to home atmosphere: Rosso Nobile, the essence of Tuscany, created from the challenge of capturing the nuances of the region’s finest red wines.  “No matter where you are – close your eyes and imagine a vineyard in the Chianti hills, surrounded by ripe grapes ready for harvest. In the air you can sense red fruits, plum, and strawberry, blended with the depth of birch wood that recalls the tannic notes of wine. Rosso Nobile captures that essence, filling your home with the warmth and sophistication of a Tuscan sunset.”

Scents as Personal Well-Being, Mood-Boosters, and Health Allies

Scents often work in the subtlest ways, boosting mood depending on the moment and rhythm of life. “Scent is emotion in its purest form,” Barbara says, sharing her personal favorites for different states of mind. “On busy mornings, I love Ginger Lime for its clarity and brightness. When I need calm, Ambra or Rosso Nobile help me slow down. I usually complete the ritual with a cup of ginger tea or a glass of red wine and some music — they always help set the atmosphere. Changing the scent in a room can truly change the rhythm of your day.”

Curious about relief from headaches, I asked which scents help. “Go for clean, airy compositions – nothing too sweet or heavy. Amber, musk, or light citrus notes usually relax the mind and clear the air. Acqua is perfect – soothing yet elegant.” And what about scents that evoke happiness?

“Joy is movement, and scent should mirror that. Albero di Natale is my favorite for this purpose, especially during the festive season. It’s vibrant and radiant, with the perfect balance of green notes and warmth. It fills the space with positivity without being overwhelming.”

For promoting better sleep, softness is key. “I’d choose vanilla or powdery woods. Ambra is very natural and calming – it clears the mind. It’s less about putting you to sleep and more about making your space peaceful enough for rest to come naturally.”

Fragrance Trends for the Cold Season

As mentioned, each season brings its own character, following nature’s rhythm. Which notes does Barbara choose for the colder months? “II’m drawn to textures; amber, patchouli, and smoky woods. Ambra feels like the glow of candlelight, while Leather Oud embodies that quiet sense of luxury we all crave in colder months. These scents don’t just perfume the air; they create a mood, a feeling of intimacy and presence.”
