The first show day of Copenhagen Fashion Week is behind us. Snow and low winter temperatures have gripped the Danish capital, but that did not deter fashion insiders from visiting a city whose fashion week can boast what is arguably the most interesting street style scene. Despite the temperatures and weather conditions, Scandi girls readily pulled their best outfits from their wardrobes and showed what is being worn in Copenhagen in January.
Layered dressing and eclectic styles are a recognizable hallmark of Copenhagen’s aesthetic, and this season trendsetters were particularly drawn to pastel shades, which look especially beautiful against snowy white backdrops, oversized fur coats, stylish and practical, we admit, and every conceivable fur accessory, from fur hats and collars to fur stoles. Brooches, the most popular accessory of recent seasons, also dominated Copenhagen street style, most often worn in the well-known maximalist manner the city embraces, joined by the ever-present checked pattern that has taken over the streets of all major fashion capitals.
