When it comes to Belgrade’s gastro scene, I almost feel a sense of awe. I often get the impression that the city welcomes a new restaurant, bistro, coffee shop, a new address that instantly gets under your skin, almost every week. And reality proves that this feeling does not deceive me. Not to mention the great daytime parties. The city itself seems to be a hot spot, and the choice of places for a good brunch in Belgrade, that moment of the day when all good stories come together, feels almost endless. Having already discovered the best brunch spots in Zagreb, we got hungry and headed to Belgrade to try to uncover where to find the best brunch menu.

The Bristol Belgrade

Address: Karađorđeva 50

Renovated and reopened earlier this year, The Bristol Belgrade is the new star of the city’s social scene. The charm of historic hotels often invites us to spend time there even when we are not guests or travelers, and the very idea that figures such as Momo Kapor, Garry Kasparov, or Milena Dravić once walked these halls is exciting enough to make you want to experience the atmosphere of this famous social artery. The Dining Room restaurant is their ace up the sleeve this spring, as a new menu has just been introduced, built around fresh ingredients and an innovative approach to dishes. Lunch is served from 12:30 pm to 4 pm, and light starters such as Salmon Gravlax Tartare, Pea Gazpacho, Sea Bass Ceviche, or Beef Tartare provide a gentle introduction to the main highlights of the menu, including Beef Steak, Chicken Supreme 2.0, Cauliflower Steak, or Asparagus Millefeuille, to name just a few. We know, brunch here has clearly turned into a more substantial lunch, but that invitation is not one to refuse either.

Brera

Address: Venizelosova 33L

Located in the heart of Novi Dorćol, Brera is a modern refuge that celebrates authentic Serbian flavors. Everything here revolves around local produce, with domestic ingredients from all parts of the country arriving on every plate. Until 1:30 pm each day, guests can enjoy a relaxed brunch menu, sparkling cocktails, homemade iced tea, and an easygoing atmosphere that can easily turn into a story worth retelling any day of the week. We are always up for that. During lunch and dinner, the concept shifts to sharing, because good food is meant to be shared. Their house-made unleavened bread perfectly rounds out every dish, while a carefully curated wine list, both local and international, completes the circle.

Signature brunch dish: A standout is the house-made waffle filled with cheese and ham, paired with a Bellini made with homemade peach purée, something we never say no to. Brioche buns come with various combinations such as goat cheese, pancetta, and house tomato jam, and they pair beautifully with homemade elderflower iced tea and Rtanj tea.

Bloom

Address: Gospodar-Jevremova 23

Natural light combined with plenty of plants and greenery gives this space a special charm. For six years now, it has attracted a loyal crowd as one of Belgrade’s favorite brunch spots. Closed on Mondays, Bloom serves tasty, healthy, and as they say, aesthetically pleasing meals on all other days, which is why weekends often require a bit of patience to find a seat. Since opening, Bloom has nurtured a philosophy that blends familiar recipes with a creative approach, without compromising on quality or originality.

Signature brunch dish: The menu has evolved over time, following seasonal ingredients and guests’ tastes, but one specialty has always remained at the top of the wish list: Turkish eggs. This simple yet rich combination of poached eggs on Greek yogurt, with spicy butter and warm pita bread, has won over many palates, the team at Bloom tells us, while announcing that a refreshed version of this recipe, along with other interesting summer favorites, will arrive just in time for the summer season.

Homa Bistro

Address: Nevesinjska 11

Homa has long been an essential gastro address in Belgrade. Homa Bistrot was conceived as a continuation of the original Homa Restaurant story, with a slightly more refined approach to dinners. As the owners explain, Homa Bistrot was designed as a place where we would offer the recognizable quality and service people have come to expect from the restaurant, but through a concept that is more accessible, more familiar, and where guests feel more relaxed, of course with our signature gastro touch. And they have truly succeeded in transporting guests away from everyday life and improving the quality of their day with a visit to Homa.

Signature brunch dish: Here, breakfast and brunch are served as a buffet and envisioned as a whole, which makes it almost impossible to single out everything good that happens on that table. They say themselves that all their dishes are like children they love equally and that they would not want to highlight just one. We understand, and it is hard to resist a buffet.

Signature brunch dish: The mini pulled pork burger with slow-roasted pork is definitely the house favorite that you should not miss. The preparation begins with long confit cooking of the meat, which is then caramelized with demi-glace sauce and homemade mango purée to achieve perfectly balanced flavors, the kitchen reveals. It is all served on a house-made brioche Kaiser roll, toasted in butter, with the highlight being fresh pico de gallo salsa that adds an extra dose of freshness and crunch.

June Café

Modern, popular, and located in picturesque Dorćol, June Café is as dynamic as the neighborhood it inhabits. The kitchen follows a less is more philosophy, seasonal, local, and gastronomically global, because they believe that the most beautiful moments are often hidden in simple pleasures. The menu brings together carefully selected local ingredients and a contemporary approach to cooking, from breakfasts on house-baked natural sourdough bread to light dinners inspired by modern European cuisine. Coffee comes from local roasters who infuse every bean with knowledge and passion, while the wine list features natural Serbian wines that perfectly complement each meal. There are also signature cocktails for those special moments that deserve an extra sip. The atmosphere is very relaxed and pleasant, just the way you want it when you feel like slowing down and enjoying yourself.

Signature brunch dish: The French omelet with the classic Italian cacio e pepe sauce stands out, generously topped with Parmesan and freshly ground black pepper. A simple yet expressive dish loved equally by locals and travelers. It pairs especially well with their house Tartine bread.

Puter Fine Bistro

Address: Njegoševa 82

The spirit of refined French cuisine has settled in the heart of Vračar, in a bistro near the Kalenić market. The menu is original, unusual, and carefully designed to follow the rhythm of the seasons and the richness of seasonal ingredients from local markets. Light vegetable dishes, such as carrots, take on a completely new dimension here, while the main stars of the menu are carefully prepared meat and fish dishes. And Sundays at Puter are a special ritual. House-made butter and premium champagne combined create a new story of experience and flavor every time.

Signature brunch dish: The offer includes classics of French cuisine such as snails with butter, garlic, and parsley, aromatic onion soup, and the indispensable beef tartare with chive butter, one of the most beloved and sought-after dishes on the menu. A luxuriously light crème brûlée provides the perfect ending to any meal.

Avocado Breakfast & Brunch

Address: Svetozara Markovića 36

When two best friends, chefs Ilija and Ognjen, returned to Belgrade after working in the United States and Thailand, they decided they wanted to offer the city street food in a healthy format. Two locations soon opened, and all-day breakfast and brunch became their specialty. Quality and freshness of ingredients are imperative here, and the colors on the plate confirm it, a true work of coloristic art.

Signature brunch dish: Although the selection is diverse, your eye naturally goes straight to one of the avocado toasts, how could it not, with the Buongiorno toast standing out in particular as a favorite from the very beginning. It is sourdough toast spread with spiced guacamole cream, topped with mozzarella, tomato, and of course pesto sauce. Combined with a poached egg, it delivers a true explosion of flavors while remaining light and satisfying.

Zaokret

Address: Cetinjska 15

This small and cozy bar in the center of Belgrade regularly offers its guests several strong assets: a quality music program, an excellent drinks list, and recently, an outstanding brunch menu, which is why there is almost always a wait for a seat. Zaokret serves its brunch offering daily from 9 am to 4 pm, starting at 10 am on weekends. With that in mind, it is easy to imagine ourselves happily having breakfast here every day. The varied menu caters both to lovers of egg-based dishes and to those who opt for indulgent croissants, nourishing porridges, or homemade granola for brunch.

Signature brunch dish: It is hard to single out just one dish here as the brunch menu is full of excellent options, but one sandwich sits high on the wish list: Avocado toast with a sunny-side-up egg. A simple recipe that always works. Avocado on unleavened bread with confit cherry tomatoes, a fried egg, and seeds for a fuller flavor. Yes, please.

Fello Bruncheria

Address: Gospodar Jovanova 31

Fello is a place where you feel as if you have been coming for years, one of the more popular brunch locations in Belgrade. “We wanted to create a corner where the day starts slowly, with good coffee and poached eggs, and continues socially with a glass of prosecco, without rushing,” say the owners, for whom food is the core of every good story. Familiar flavors with a twist, enjoyed in a simple yet pleasant and warm interior. A second shift is soon planned, they announce, with dishes leaning toward a fine dining concept.

Signature brunch dish: A dish that guests particularly love here is the creamy scrambled eggs on toasted sourdough bread. “It is a breakfast that provides energy for the entire day, rich yet balanced.” The scrambled eggs are airy and creamy, served on crispy sourdough bread spread with béchamel sauce made with Pirot cheese, accompanied by a mix of fresh salad and lemon dressing. Everything is sprinkled with sesame and flax seeds, and at the chef’s recommendation, prosciutto or smoked salmon can be added.

Dorćol Store

Address: Strahinjića Bana 52

This urban city refuge skillfully blends the spirit of a contemporary brunch concept with the warmth of local character. The owners’ wish was for guests to feel at home here, but with an appealing dose of aesthetics and a culinary experience they would want to return to again and again. It seems they have succeeded, as this vibrant spot regularly attracts crowds of fans of relaxed daytime brunching.

Signature brunch dish: As the dish that best reflects the philosophy of Dorćol Store, they single out the Roast Beef open sandwich. “It is a combination of carefully selected ingredients, depth of flavor, and aesthetic presentation.” It is based on sourdough bread, Café de Paris butter, grilled rump steak, Tilsit cheese, and an authentic house-made sauce. What sets it apart is the balance of the familiar and the unexpected. “At first glance simple, yet complex and full of character in every bite. That is exactly the experience we want our guests to feel here: authentic, thoughtful, and without unnecessary pretension.”
