8 new Christmas movies on streaming platforms that will warm your heart

Tara Đukić

November 21, 2025

From my guilty pleasure activities, I usually mention Christmas movies. In August. There is nothing more carefree, warm or cozy than an evening spent with that fairy tale like, sentimental, feel good kind of content, and we have especially earned it after a year marked by global crises, uncertainty, existential anxiety and political chaos. Of course, it is best to start with the true classics, like the 1950s Hollywood adaptation of A Christmas Carol or It’s a Wonderful Life. But if you are tired of watching Home Alone for the thousandth time, the good news is that streaming platforms have prepared an abundance of festive releases this season, with Netflix leading the way and offering a whole selection of new Christmas titles such as the already most watched A Merry Little Ex Mas. We know this new batch will not win any Oscars, but it is fair to say that we neither want nor need that. We grab a mug of mulled wine, switch our phones to do not disturb mode, and let ourselves fall into New Year’s adventures. Below, we highlight the newest Christmas movies you should not miss on streaming platforms this season.

A Merry Little Ex-Mas

Ready to sign the divorce papers and determined to stage one more picture perfect family Christmas in their home, Kate (Alicia Silverstone) is caught off guard when her ex husband Everett (Oliver Hudson) shows up with his new girlfriend. As the decorations go up and old feelings resurface, Kate realizes that what truly matters is not the perfectly planned holiday, but the life she already has. Melissa Joan Hart is also here to add an extra layer of millennial nostalgia. Available on Netflix.

With original songs, surprise celebrity cameos and a witty, self aware tone, this musical comedy reminds them and us that going home is sometimes the best gift of all. Available on Disney+.
