The power couple chose an Italian region for their dream wedding (and no, it’s not Tuscany)

Internationally renowned model Indre Abby from Germany and former golf player Claudio Consul,  a German and Italian champion as well as a start-up founder, first met at a fashion event through a mutual friend, and from that evening on, their love story began. After nearly ten years together and countless shared experiences, their wedding felt like a natural celebration of their love – a beautiful affirmation of everything they’ve built together.

After getting engaged, they immediately started planning and organized the wedding within four months. “We knew we didn’t want a traditional wedding; our dream was something intimate, warm, and effortlessly elegant. We always imagined an atmosphere that felt like an Italian garden filled with laughter and life – everyone gathered around one long table, sharing food, music, and stories. What mattered most to us was creating something personal, authentic, and full of love,” Indre tells Vogue Adria. “Choosing the right location was key, and Apulia turned out to be the perfect fit – reflecting exactly the relaxed yet refined spirit we envisioned.”

Centuries-Old Masseria Calderisi Among the Olive Groves

Nestled among centuries-old olive trees and sunlit gardens, Masseria Calderisi perfectly embodies the spirit of Apulia – authentic, warm, and effortlessly sophisticated. This 17th-century estate has been transformed into a contemporary retreat that beautifully balances modern design, refined materials, and the timeless charm of southern Italy. “What makes Calderisi truly special is its atmosphere – it’s a place where design and emotion meet,” says Kim from the German agency Kim Dahlem – The Boutique Art of Celebrating, who planned the wedding. She highlights that beyond the natural landscape surrounding the property, it’s the interiors that truly reflect the Apulian magic – a seamless blend of the contemporary and the authentically Italian. Kim also emphasizes that the exquisite Apulian cuisine played a key role in shaping the experience, as did the entire on-site team. “It was a feeling of belonging, serenity, and the pure luxury of simplicity,” she adds.

When it comes to locations like this, the goal is not to transform or overpower their natural charm, but to highlight their authenticity and the key lies in thoughtful design. As Kim explained, “Our inspiration for the design concept was simple: to celebrate the soul of Apulia!” Here, flowers, fruits, vegetables, ceramics, stationery, and tableware played a subtle yet impactful role as delicate storytellers. “The vision was to create a vibrant, sun-drenched, and joyful weekend filled with light, color, and connection – a carefree escape shared with the couple’s closest friends and family,” Kim adds.

Three Days of Celebration and Togetherness

The three-day celebration began with a relaxed gathering at Calderisi Mare, the beach club of Masseria Calderisi. Fresh fish grilled over open flames, light salads, and elegant food stations set the tone for an evening that felt effortless, laid-back, and full of Mediterranean charm. Under strings of twinkling lights, guests danced barefoot in the sand to smooth DJ beats as the sunset painted the sea in soft pink and golden hues – “the definition of barefoot luxury and chic coastal style.” For the wedding day itself, the aesthetic shifted toward elegant vibrancy — a refined yet lively reflection of Italian joie de vivre. “We combined bold tones of coral, red, rust, and pink with soft beige and ivory shades that complemented the Apulian landscape, using the Masseria’s natural hues as a canvas for color. The result? A modern, minimalist, and fashion-forward atmosphere that reflected the bride’s effortless style and couture sensibility,” explains Kim.

The ceremony took place beneath a centuries-old olive tree, surrounded by flowers that seemed to grow naturally from the earth. Guests sat on traditional wooden chairs, shaded by white parasols, while the sound of violins and live vocals created an emotional, cinematic atmosphere. The cocktail hour unfolded at sunset on the rooftop – “Aperol Spritz in hand, golden light, and heartfelt congratulations before dinner.” During dinner, modern Italian minimalism met rustic authenticity: off-white and beige linens, red-and-white napkins, classic silver cutlery, and hand-drawn stationery that playfully blended Hermès sophistication with Masseria Calderisi’s charm — featuring the venue’s signature donkey as a witty detail. “Every element felt chic, organic, and unmistakably Apulian,” says Kim. After dinner, the celebration moved outdoors – live performances by the Phly Boyz, a first dance under the stars, and percussions leading guests to a moonlit DJ after-party.

The weekend concluded with a relaxed poolside day in true retro Italian style – “a real La Dolce & Gabbana vibe,” Kim laughs. Shades of ivory, sand, olive, and lemon yellow set a color palette that felt both playful and sophisticated. “Guests lounged to chillout DJ beats, sipped Aperol, and enjoyed freshly made pasta and gelato by the pool. It was the perfect finale — a celebration of life, style, and joy in true Apulian fashion.”

Inspiration for wedding dress came from Mexico

Indre first discovered her exclusive DIOR wedding gown during a fashion show in Mexico. “It was presented with cowboy boots and a wide silver belt – so effortlessly cool that I thought, Oh my God, this dress is a dream! Of course, I knew I couldn’t show up to my wedding in cowboy boots,” she laughs, “but that look stayed in my mind.” Before finding the one, Indre visited many boutiques and tried countless styles – “which isn’t easy when you work as a model and know so many designers,” she admits. In the end, this dress simply felt right. “It wasn’t a traditional gown, but it was exactly what I wanted – timeless, effortless, and full of character.”

For the ceremony, Indre wore flat shoes by Magda Butrym, while she ended the evening in a true party dress with fringes, “perfect for dancing.” For the welcome event, she wore an orange fringe dress by Taller Marmo — “elegant yet relaxed, perfectly in tune with the evening’s vibe.” On the third day, for the ’70s-inspired pool party, Indre continued the color theme with orange, white, and gold, “creating a beautiful connection between all the celebrations.”

A Special Moment of the Evening

Although Indre notes that many beautiful moments marked their Italian wedding, two stand out in particular. “The first was the welcome evening on the beach – just a few minutes before our guests arrived, we had a quiet moment for ourselves, realizing that everything was beginning. Friends were flying in from all over the world, and that anticipation and emotion were incredible,” the bride recalls.

The second unforgettable moment was entering the garden before the ceremonial dinner on the wedding day. “Everything was beautifully decorated, the atmosphere was magical, and the entire scene was filled with love and warmth. It was overwhelming in the best possible way – a moment I will never forget. Of course, the ceremony itself and the exchange of vows were also deeply meaningful – something we will always carry in our hearts.” Also, Indre points put that all the special moments of the wedding were perfectly caught by a great photographer, which is one of the most important things when planning. “Dani Rodriguez was the perfect photographer for this wedding: his modern, minimalist, and fashion-forward style – paired with a sense of naturalness and creativity – beautifully brought together all the essential elements: the effortless spirit of Apulia, its organic surroundings, fresh colors, sense of fashion that we wanted to feel, and above all, the love and joy we shared with our guests.”
