The famed British director has filmed a new, thrilling gangster TV series – The Gentlemen . Naturally, a series bearing his signature is entirely different from all those of the same genre you’re accustomed to.
The series premieres on March 7 and is somewhat a sequel to Ritchie’s film of the same name from 2020. Although the TV series features entirely different characters and a story, it retains the same character and level of excitement, and Ritchie’s distinctive style of fragmentation and rapid montage is very much present.
Theo James, star of the popular series The White Lotus, plays the lead character Duke Halstead, Eddie Horniman, the estranged son of English nobleman Bobby Glass, who finds himself at the center of the criminal world and a cannabis empire in London’s East End. Kaya Scodelario plays Susie Glass, Bobby’s daughter who manages the day-to-day criminal operations. Together, they bring a family gangster story, told in Guy Ritchie’s way: Eddie Halstead inherits the family estate, initially unaware it’s home to a drug empire managed by a syndicate that plans to stay.
